BT TV (EE TV) full review
BT's TV service, now known as EE TV, combines live TV, on-demand content and popular streaming apps in one box, bundled with BT Broadband. Every package includes free-to-air channels plus Netflix Standard with adverts, and you can add premium entertainment, movies and sport from NOW, HBO Max, Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
There are five main packages on a 24-month contract. Entertainment costs £15/month and includes NOW Entertainment and Netflix. Entertainment Plus costs £19/month and adds HBO Max (Basic with Ads). Sport costs £27/month with TNT Sports channels 1-4 in HD, while Sport Plus costs £55/month and adds all Sky Sports on NOW. The top Full Works package costs £88/month and bundles entertainment, NOW Cinema, Netflix, Sky Sports and TNT Sports. Promotional discounts are often available for the first three months, there are no upfront fees, and prices rise by £2 every 31 March.
Customers get either the TV Box Pro, which can record up to 600 hours and four channels at once, or the TV Box Edge, which supports multi-room viewing over Wi-Fi but cannot record. The box brings together apps like Netflix, NOW, BBC iPlayer, HBO Max, Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube and Apple TV under one remote, with Dolby Atmos sound and support for 4K HDR. Movies can also be bought or rented through the EE TV Store.
On the go, the EE TV app works on iPhone, iPad, Android, Amazon Fire devices, Apple TV 4K and Samsung smart TVs, with a web player for Windows PCs. Support is available through online messaging, phone and the BT Community forum.
Verdict: BT TV (EE TV) is a strong choice for BT Broadband customers who want Sky Sports and TNT Sports together with Netflix in a single bill. The 24-month contract, yearly price rises and broadband requirement are the main drawbacks. Our rating: 3.5/5.
